When our horse Kia was diagnosed with bleeding in her tendon and surgery was required, my daughter, Katie and I were anxious about her care. We knew we needed post-operative care that would provide Kia with the best chance possible for a full recovery. Gwen Carlson was recommended by Claudia Knudsen, owner of Paint Creek Farm, to provide post-operative care for Kia.
Gwen was fabulous. She took care of Kia for two months after her surgery. I never worried, nor was I ever concerned about her care when she was with Gwen. Thanks to Gwen's excellent care, Kia will be able to return to light work 6 months after the initial operation. Kia is expected to fully recover and Katie should be able to start competing with her in Dressage next year.
We highly recommend Gwen for any horse in need of post-operative care. After all the expense and heart ache of surgery for your horse, additional investment in good post-operative care is well worth it.

My mare developed ulcers in her eye that needed a lot of treatment that I was not able to give. She was initially in the Elgin Vet Hospital for many weeks, but I could not afford to keep her there for several more weeks. Both my vet and a local horse acquaintance recommended Gwen and Timberline Farm. I could not have asked for a better place to take my horse. From the moment I pulled up with my horse, I felt comfortable and a huge weight was off my shoulders. Gwen and her husband, Mike, are obvious animal lovers and very knowledgeable about horses. She gave my horse awesome and personalized care. In fact, I feel that my horse was quite spoiled during her stay at Timberline Farm. The ulcers have finally healed, with much credit to the great care from Gwen and my horse is back home. Gwen Carlson is a true blessing!
